Specific Pigeon is a beautiful collection that creates one-of-a-kind, sunprinted textiles, made with love and light in Michigan.

Each bonnet and bandana is a one-of-a-kind piece, printed by hand using light sensitive dyes. Designer, Lisa, forages for natural items, some are pressed and some are left in their original form. These flowers, feathers, and other botanicals are placed on the prepared fabric, which is then exposed to light. When exposure is done, the area of the fabric that was exposed has been dyed, while the area under the shadow of the botanicals, remains un-dyed.

Sunprinting is based on an alternative photography process called cyanotype, which was invented in the 19th century. The prints from this process were originally name 'shadowgraphs', because an image is created from the shadow of an object.

Like many artists, motherhood changed the landscape of Lisa's creative life and sunprinting is something she can, and often does, involve her daughters in.
